Arakanese refugees In Malaysia

“Arakanese refugees, residing in Malaysia those who have been being lost their future”

November, 10, 2009

Malaysia is the third largest country which has been illegally being accepted Arakanese refugees those who have been fleeing to the neighboring countries due to the inhuman ill-treatment by Military government in the country.
At present, among refugees fleeing from Burma, Chin ethnic refugees are the first largest population, the second largest amount is Mon ethnics and the third largest population is Arakanese which will be 20,000 according to the data list by Arakanese refugees. Among them about 500 refugees are allowed to have asylum-seekers but only one hundred refugees will be allowed to leave for third nations as their resettlement.
As the refugees, being arrived at Malaysia do not have any opportunity to seek their appropriate survival for daily life as human, freely in Malaysia. At least the refugees in Malaysia have been losing the right of human being in accordance with norms and standards, privileged by Universal Declaration of Human Right, adopted by United Nation General Assembly in 1948.The Arakanese people, inside the Arakan state are seriously having suffer of ill-treatment and inhumane torture by present regime, military government, so-called State Peace and Development Council-SPDC.
In seriously seeking for foreign currencies to be permanent their military power forever, 60,000 acres of farms owned by Arakanese people, forcedly confiscated without any compensation by Junta had been hired to the government of Bangladesh. Then again, the government of India and present regime had signed in an official agreement in 2008 on the “Management of Kaladan River Project” for the reason of easy carriage of goods using inland transportation between the two nations India and Burma under military. People of Arakan have to face different kinds of human right violations such as force-labor, relocations, inhumane torture and ethnic cleansings by 57 battalions of SPDC’s army though there were only five battalions in Arakan State this then before.
On the matter of as above dangerous circumstances in Arakanland, most of Arakanese youths and adults have to inevitably leave their native villages, wards and towns. These are reasons out of uncountable raison d'ĂȘtre why people are fleeing to neighboring foreign-nations leaving their homeland.
It is not seen yet that present political situation of Burma is not going in the direction of good state of affairs because of SPDC’s violation of human rights on especially ethnics people those who are living in frontier areas, Bangladesh-Burma, Thai-Burma, China-Burma, India-Burma and Lao-Burma borders as well. Albeit region is asserting to the inside and outside people that they are going toward the restoration of democracy, they are going in the direction of permanent of their stay in power. This conspiracy of their aim to stay in power is being known by international communities.
How many years the people of Arakan have to stay as stateless in future in Malaysia by this way? “How long has to stay as human being for a person as stateless? It’s thought that its very much for a human being to stay without having own state in foreign nation over ten years. At present in Malaysia, there are over 20,000 refugees of Arakanese.”
Under this circumstance, we, Arakanese refugees in Malaysia would appeal either to those who are concerned authorized persons of United Nations High Commission for Refugee in Malaysia or the nations those who are accepting the refugees in order to their state-policy regarding this issue should allow to those who are Arakanese refugees residing in Malay to agree them in your country to stay with human dignity.
