PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) wants the Government to allow easier absorption of foreign workers into other industries that are facing shortage of workers.
MEF executive director Shamsuddin Bardan said the issue was not about re-registering their workers although it had become more stringent.
“Many employers prefer to transfer their unwanted foreign workers to other industries that are facing a shortage.
“It will be economical for employers as they will be able to fully utilise the foreign workers from other industries instead of having to re-hire new ones from their respective countries,” he said yesterday.
A check by The Star at various business centres around Subang and Petaling Jaya showed that foreign workers at various businesses are working as usual.
