The Statement of 62nd Anniversary of Chin National Day

The Statement of 62nd Anniversary of Chin National Day
On the 20th February of 1948 all tribes from all regions of Chin heartland come to Falam, Capital of Chin hills to attend the first Chin people’s conference. In the conference, representatives from all tribes of Chin hill overwhelmingly voted against the colonial and feudal system to transform into democratic form. Today, the 20th February, 2010 is celebrated as the 62nd anniversary of its birth.
The historical day of Chin people, February 20, 1948 is the heritage of our ancestors that is to be remembered and followed by the new generations in order to implement the unity of Chin people. We the Chin people have to be honestly accept the different characters of tribe and tradition we have among us naturally. Base on these differences, equality and unity should be achieved among us in federal democratic form and now is the time to step forward.
While, we are facing the cunning and crooked methods of the military regimes to eliminate the true essence of the Chin National Day, it is regretful to say that some of our Chins in many part of the world are celebrating the Chin National Day on the inexact day for their own convenience. This is a historical Chin National Day and those who try to change the day should be regarded as violating and humiliating the National Day.
As the Union of Burma is established on the basic of ethnic nationalist it is crucial to build a true and genuine federal union democratic government. Today on this 62nd anniversary of Chin National Day it is indispensable for the young generations to emphasize the implementation and establishment of true democracy in Chinland base upon regions of tribes.
In order to stabilize and strengthen its power and dominance the military regime tried to organize the people using different kinds of mandate and strategies for the success of the coming 2010 nationwide election. However the regime has not taken into account the following democratic principle.
1)      The constitution which was drafted with the democratic accord in 2008.
2)      The suggestion given and amendment submitted by the people and democratic parties.
3)      The guarantee to people’s freedom of express and religion.
4)      The guarantee to free and release the political detainees 2010.Hence the coming 2010 election is absolutely against democracy and guarantee no confidence to the people.
